Savanadurga
Savanadurga is a hill cluster that includes two hills: Karigudda (Translates to Black Hill) and Biligudda (White Hill). This trek will take you through the Biligudda, as you trek through the rocky terrain, exploring few ruined walls of the fort, and reaching the summit in just 3 hours! From the top of Savanadurga, you can view the picturesque plains of this regions.
Manchanabelle Dam
Manchanabelle Dam is built across River Arkavathi is a picturesque place. It is a perfect place to sit and relax after the tiring trek to Savanadurga. The backwaters and the surrounding hills make it a perfect place for clicking memorable pictures.
Dodda Aalada Mara
Did you know that the fourth biggest tree in India is located close to Bangalore? Yes, Dodda Aalada Mara, translates to Big Banyan Tree, is undoubtedly huge. Itinerary
This is a one-day trip from Bangalore that includes the trek to Savanadurga, and a visit to Manchanabelle Dam and Dodda Aalada Mara.
- Pick up from Bangalore (designated points only) starts at 5 AM
- Start the adventurous trek to Savanadurga, the largest monolith rock hill in Asia
- Spend enough time at the summit to enjoy the amazing views of the rivers, dams and the surrounding greenery
- Return to the base to have packed lunch
- Visit Manchanabelle Dam, the dam that supplies water to all the nearby villages
- Visit Dodda Aaalada Mara, or the big banyan tree, the huge tree is spread over 3 acres and is the second largest banyan tree in India!
- Drop off at Bangalore (designated points) by 7 or 8 PM
Important Points
- The 3-hour trek is rated easy to moderate. However, depending on the weather conditions, it can become difficult as well.
- It can get extremely sunny during the day, and the rocky surface can reflect the sunlight, making it difficult to climb. Please carry accessories as required (see what to carry section)
- If it rains/drizzles, the surface can get slippery. If that happens, trek/tour leader will take a decision if the trek will be continued or not, depending on the conditions at that time. Please adhere to trek/tour leader’s instructions/decision.
- Basic fitness is expected from the travellers joining the batch. To measure your fitness, ensure you can walk/jog/run 5 km in 40 minutes.
- If you are unsure about your fitness, consult your doctor before confirming the booking.
- Avoid getting into (or closer to) water at Manchanabelle Dam. It is very slippery and slushy. It could turn out to be fatal.
